Now, more than 30 years later, SkyDome is considered obsolete. I say it’s still futuristic. Gonna be a sad day when it comes crumbling down.
Except that it DIDN'T open on time and ran WAY over budget.

This stadium puts the big OlympicStadium in Montreal to shame. That place was a dump from the start.
Wanna know something that makes me sick? Rogers wants to destroy this beautiful piece of history just so they could fill their pockets with more cash. So sad
It's 2021 and The Jays are getting a new stadium. They want to demolish the skydome.
Both Wrestlemania 6 and Wrestlemania 18 was really awesome in this stadium.

Where did the time go?
"And manage they did…" Yea manage to milk people from Ontario out of their hard earned money … "Today they met everyone of their goals…" They needed to be heavily financed by the government (us) to build this thing. Built for just shy of 1 billion ( in 80's dollars, without inflation) , then sold for 22 million dollars in nothing short of a scam by Rogers. That's Canada for you! Vote for the status quo Ontario! Bunch of sheep!
And then Rogers had to go ahead and ruin everything like they always do and name it the Rogers Centre…

What I like about the Skydome is: "It Works". The way the roof operates is just awesome.
Built at 570M (1989 dollars), on time and on budget, I think it should send a clear message/reality check to Montrealers, who are stuck with an ugly, non-functional, non-operational (about 20 events a year, when the weather is good) and costly white elephant, the Big Owe, build at 770M (about 2B in today's dollars) by an French architect from oversea, and still unfinished when the 1976 Olympic games began. It took more than a decade to complete the tower and install the roof, which soon ripped apart. I think it's the only stadium with a roof, where a baseball game had to be postponed due to the rain. Oh, and the Big Owe non-retractable must be replaced, again, for perhaps 400M.
